What is SEA?
Search engine advertising is paid visibility on search engines such as Google and Bing. It captures demand at the exact moment someone expresses it, which makes it one of the most direct routes from attention to acquisition: the click carries intent, and intent converts.
What good SEA looks like
Intent precedes the click. Strong SEA starts from search intent, structures the account around it, and feeds results back into strategy and creative. In practice that means:
- Intent led structure: campaigns built around what people are trying to do, not around internal product categories.
- Clean measurement: conversion tracking that reflects business value, so automated bidding learns from real signals.
- Full coverage: classic search, Performance Max and Demand Gen working together instead of competing for the same query.
- Search data as insight: query data is market research the audience writes itself, and it should feed content, creative and strategy.
Where search advertising is going
Queries are moving into AI surfaces: AI Overviews, ChatGPT and conversational search. Paid presence is following, which makes intent understanding more valuable, not less: the auction changes, the customer logic does not.
The blue2purple angle
Search is where blue2purple started: Belgium's first independent performance agency, running search since 2008. Eighteen years of search DNA now feeds one integrated system where SEA learnings shape creative and strategy, not just bids.
