Media Mix Modelling (MMM)

What is Media Mix Modelling?

Media Mix Modelling (MMM) is a statistical method that measures how much each channel really contributes to sales, including offline media and channels that tracking cannot see. Instead of following individual users, it analyses aggregated data over time: spend, impressions, seasonality, pricing, distribution and external factors, and models how each variable moves the business.

Because it needs no cookies, no user level identifiers and no platform permissions, MMM keeps working in a privacy first world where click based measurement keeps losing signal.

What MMM answers

  • Contribution: how many sales each channel actually generated, online and offline.
  • Saturation: where the next euro stops adding value, so budgets stop overfeeding tired channels.
  • Scenario planning: what happens to revenue if you shift budget from one channel to another, before you actually do it.

Why it matters

Click based attribution rewards the last touchpoint and stays blind to everything that built the demand: the video views, the creator content, the radio spot. MMM measures incremental impact, the sales that would not have happened without the campaign, and puts every channel on the same scale, including the ones platforms cannot or will not measure honestly.

How blue2purple uses it

blue2purple runs MMM through AdNautics, its proprietary SaaS platform, to steer budgets on real business outcomes instead of platform reported conversions. The model feeds the budget conversation: what to scale, what to cut, and what to test next. Measurement is not a report at the end, it is the steering wheel.
