What is a landing page?
A landing page is where the click lands: the page a campaign sends people to, built to continue the story the ad started and turn interest into action.
Why it matters
Half the campaign happens after the click. Media buys the visit; the landing page decides whether the visit was worth buying. A strong campaign on a weak page is a leak: you pay full price for attention and lose it in the last metre, and every conversion rate point recovered on the page makes every channel upstream cheaper at once.
What makes one work
- Message match: the page repeats the promise of the ad that brought people there. A mismatch reads as a bait and switch.
- One job: one audience, one offer, one action. Every extra choice bleeds conversion.
- Speed and mobile first: most paid traffic is mobile and impatient; slow pages pay media prices for bounces.
- Proof where doubt lives: reviews, guarantees and specifics placed at the moments hesitation strikes.
The discipline
Landing pages deserve the same testing culture as ads: variants, hypotheses, data. Most accounts test twenty creatives and one page; the leverage is usually the other way round.
